So the Adventure Update for Minecraft came out a few weeks ago, and I've been playing it like crazy ever since. I love the new features and changes that have been made, like sprinting, blocking, and stackable food. Now that breeding animals is also in, I just had to build a freakin' barn. Mojang also have been constantly updating the game by releasing pre-release updates left and right. There are enchantments and dragons now. This game just keeps getting bigger!
I've been so absorbed by Minecraft that I recently decided to make my own texture pack. There are loads of texture packs out there, all giving Minecraft a different feel and look. My goal is to give the game a more lighthearted, coloring book-like aesthetic. I always thought the cartoony look fits the game pretty well, and is the reason why I use texture packs like Jolicraft and Sphax PureBDCraft. That's just my opinion though
Anyway I have some screens that shows ya how Mincecraft will look with my textures:
A shot in the woods
The plains are reallly green
A look at the desert
The mountains
The tree looks a bit blue
Check out the pine forest
The pine forest at night
My pathetic barn
This is a work-in-progress, and some objects(like wooden planks and cactus) have default textures. I've mostly done objects that you see most in the environment, stuff like dirt, trees, sand and a few others. I messed with the foliage color to make grass and leaves in colder climates look blue-er, while it becomes dry and brown when it approaches the desert. I think the nauseously bright colors make the biomes a lot more interesting that way.
I've only done a handful of textures though, and I won't make the pack available for download until I get everything in the terrain.png textured at least. It shouldn't take too long. Maybe. I hope. LOL!
Right now I'm working on animating flowing water. The still water is done, and I'm really proud on how that turned out. It's a simple water animation with squiggly lines, but it gives it a wavy look somehow. I really like it! You can see my custom water in one of the screenshots above. I'll make more journal entries as I make progress.
Anyway, if you were bored enough to read my journal, tell me what you think!
